Angolan Authorities Praise Cuban Doctors in Huila Province
The government of Angola''s southern province of Huila praised today the work Cuban doctors are doing, especially in the municipality of Chicomba, and their invaluable contribution to healthcare in these communities.
The Cuban doctors are fundamental to ensure the wellbeing of the population in these areas, therefore we always seek to strengthen our historical alliance, said Provincial Health Director Altimo Matías.
Matías commended the doctors working at the municipal hospital and health centers in the towns of Cutenda y Quê for their commitment, willingness and cooperation.
Local media reports that the presence of Cuban doctors in these areas has spared villagers the long distances they had to cover -230 km- in order to receive medical services in Lubango or Matala.
About 4 602 Cubans are cooperating in different sectors in Angola, including 1800 specialists in the healthcare sector and 1 400 professors.
Cooperation agreements also includes sectors like energy, water, veterinarian services and rural electrification.
